The Elevate Edit / Backstage Notes / Act 2

Why am I replaying one conversation?

The Replay · a scene from the lighting booth.

The meeting ended. The imaginary director’s cut is still running: a pause, a look, the sentence you wish you had said. Rather than deciding what the replay means about you, try separating the recording from the commentary.

Worrier: “They thought it was a terrible idea.”

Director: “They said they needed time. We do not know the rest yet.”

RAZ: “So we are cancelling the 47 imaginary sequels?”

Two columns. One next step.

On paper, label one column What happened and the other What I added. “No reply by 4 p.m.” belongs in the first. “They dislike me” belongs in the second unless there is more information.

A useful next step might be waiting until tomorrow, asking a direct question, or returning to a task you can complete. You do not have to force a positive interpretation. “I do not know yet” can be an honest alternative.

If repetitive thoughts are persistent, distressing or disrupting everyday life, a qualified mental health professional can offer support. This scene is education, not treatment.
